How to recall an email you just sent

Have you ever clicked Send for an email you just composed only to realize that you forgot to include some information, an attachment or noticed a mistake? With Gmail you can easily recall your message by enabling “Undo Send”. Let us show you how.

1. Log into your Gmail inbox.

2. Click the gear icon and select settings.

3. Under the General tab, scroll down to find the "Undo Send:" settings.

4. Click the “Enable Undo Send” and set a cancellation period of 5, 10, 20 or 30 seconds.

5. You're not done yet! Scroll down to the bottom of the page and SAVE your setting changes.

6. Now compose a test message and click SEND.

7. You notice at the top of the window you’ll see a message highlighted in yellow “Your message has been sent. Undo View message”

8. If you click “Undo” it will recall your message and bring up the compose message window that will contain all the original content of your email.

NOTE:

If you refresh the page, click on your inbox or any label or click the “View Message” link you will no longer be able to recall your message and it will be sent immediately.

If you send your message and wonder why the recipient has not received the email yet, remember by enabling “Undo Send” you have essentially set a delay of 5, 10, 20, 30 seconds. If you don’t want to undo and send immediately just click your inbox and your email will be sent right away.
